We believe your relationship with your financial advisor should be built on trust, transparency, and a deep understanding of your family’s goals and values.
As part of the MarsJewett family, your dreams and challenges become our own. We get to know you beyond your balance sheet and treat your assets, your hopes, and your legacy with the deep respect and personal care they deserve. Together, we will navigate life’s financial complexities and make choices that will give you peace of mind at every stage of your life.
Our steady, disciplined approach is informed by years of expertise in comprehensive financial planning and investment management. As your partner, we only ever act in your best interest—not only because we’re a fiduciary, but because that is what you do for people you care about.
We know that behind your assets is a lifetime of hard work, intentional decisions and strongly-held values. Our highest purpose is to empower you to use those assets in ways that bring meaning and happiness to you and your family.
Teamwork to Take You Forward
You will have a primary advisor, but rest assured that you are everyone’s client here.
SUCCESS STORIES
Each of our clients is unique, and they all experience events—expected and unexpected—that impact their financial plan. For us, navigating these changes begins with a deep understanding, not only of their finances, but of who they are as people.
Optimizing Social Security & Retirement Income
Deciding when to take Social Security and how to structure your retirement income, it is essential to consider your lifestyle, your family’s unique needs, and the ways your decisions will impact your comprehensive financial plan.
Tax-Wise Charitable Giving Plans
Sudden acquisitions of wealth, such as the sale of a business, stock award or inheritance can result in significant capital gains taxes. Strategic charitable giving vehicles can minimize your tax burden and enable you to support individuals or causes that are important to you.
OUR HISTORY
1972–1978
After graduation from Bucknell, Glenn attended a seminary in Washington DC where he met Dianna who was visiting from Seattle. He followed her out to Seattle where they married, and he worked as a Cost Engineer on the Alaska Pipeline project.
1978–1981
Glenn passed on a career as a civil engineer when he followed his calling to “build lives, not bridges”. He made the leap to finance, earning his CFP designation in 1981.
1985
Glenn joined Capital Planning Corporation as a lead advisor and continued building his business. He conducted retirement and investment seminars for the Boeing Managers Association which allowed him to build a referral system amongst Boeing employees. Referrals lead to work with a diverse mixture of others in careers including technology, government, health care, and professional football.
1994
At one such seminar, in 1994, Glenn met Scott Jewett, who was working at Boeing but also working towards his CFP certification. Glenn hired Scott a year later.
2000–2001
Joined by Elizabeth Sowle and Glenn’s wife Dianna, the team left Capital planning and founded MarsJewett in 2002.
2006
The business has always had a family feel, but that took on a more literal meaning when Glenn’s son Brian joined the firm as an aspiring financial advisor.
2013–2014
Brian joined the firm as a partner in 2013. Shortly thereafter, Elizabeth began serving clients as a financial advisor.
Today & Tomorrow
We are extremely proud of the team—now 15 strong—that we have built. While we continue to grow as a team and business, we remain committed to our core values, serving our clients and each other with personal care and integrity.
OUR VALUES
Service
We do this work not as a job, but as a vocation. We believe our highest purpose is to use our experience and expertise to help others. We listen carefully before we speak, and we work as a true team, ensuring every single client receives the same exceptional care and personalized guidance from each and every person they interact with.
Integrity
Above all else, we ensure that everything we do is in our client’s best interest, not just because we’re a fiduciary, but because it is the right way to treat people. We operate with complete transparency, ensuring that our clients understand what we’re doing and why we’re doing it, and we never put our own success before that of the people we serve.
Compassion
We treat our clients and our coworkers like family. We care about them and meet them with warmth, kindness and encouragement. We get to know their families, stand beside them in good times and bad, and treat their goals and dreams as our own. We have deep respect for the hard work and life experience that leads each client to our door.
Excellence
We support our client’s holistic financial wellbeing with comprehensive plans, built on proven expertise in investing, strategic planning, cash flow management, taxes, estate planning and more. Our disciplined approach is informed by over 100 years of combined experience, and we remain true students of our profession. We are passionate about solving financial planning puzzles and continually seek new and better ways to serve our clients.
Patience
A background in engineering taught our founder the importance of doing our due diligence and being meticulous and methodical in our work. We seek lifelong relationships with our clients, that means we continually evaluate our progress towards their goals and ensure they have total clarity about what’s happening, what action we recommend, and why. We measure our success by their long-term security, and peace of mind through both good times and challenging times.
Culture & Community
People often comment that our team feels like a family, and that is something we’re deeply proud of. We strive to live our values every day, and that begins with the deep care we have for our coworkers, our clients and the community in which we live and work.
